Akira Irie's practice focuses on intellectual property and litigation with an emphasis on the chemical and electrical arts. Mr. Irie has represented clients before U.S. district courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC). His litigation experience includes pre-suit analysis, collecting and reviewing foreign language documents, motions practice, and conducting and defending depositions. Additionally, he also has experience drafting pre-trial and post-trial briefs, preparing and presenting witnesses for trial testimony, and participating at patent trials before the ITC.
Examples of technologies Mr. Irie has worked with include light-emitting diodes, transistors, semiconductors, GPS systems, camera lenses, dental lighting equipment, cosmetic compositions, pharmaceutical compositions, and polymer chemistry.

Mr. Irie received his B.A. from Swarthmore College in Chemical Physics in 2003 and J.D., cum laude, from Washington University School of Law in 2008. Mr. Irie is admitted to practice in California and the District of Columbia. He is also registered to practice before the USPTO as a patent attorney. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Irie was an associate at a major IP boutique firm located in Washington, D.C.
He is fluent in Japanese.
