Al Araiza is an associate in the firm’s Northern Virginia office. Mr. Araiza focuses on patent procurement, client counseling, and litigation support.

Mr. Araiza possesses a high level of knowledge in several areas of software and hardware technical innovation, by virtue of several years of experience with radar systems, power systems, computer modeling and medical technology. He has authored several technical publications and is well versed in diverse subjects, including cloud computing, neural networks, wireless networks, pattern recognition, molecular biology and genetics. Mr. Araiza has drafted a number of patent applications directed at these technologies. He has also been involved in numerous patent cross-licensing matters, and patent litigation matters before the U.S. district courts and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Mr. Araiza earned his J.D. from the Duke University School of Law, where he was the managing editor of the Duke Law and Technology Review, and a member of the Intellectual Property Law Society. He earned his M.Eng. in biomedical engineering from Tulane University, and his B.S. in electrical engineering from the University of California at Los Angeles. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Araiza worked for several years as a patent agent, electrical engineer and medical researcher.

Mr. Araiza is a member of the American Bar Association, the Hispanic National Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association. He is fluent in Spanish.
