Alexandra Barrage represents clients in a broad spectrum of bankruptcy and insolvency contexts, including out-of-court workouts and corporate restructurings, prepackaged bankruptcies, Chapter 11 (reorganizations, sales, and liquidations) and Chapter 15 (cross-border) filings, bankruptcy asset purchases, and related litigation. Ms. Barrage has experience with bank regulatory issues that intersect with bankruptcy law, including living wills and related issues under the Dodd-Frank Act.

Ms. Barrage has co-authored a number of articles on various bankruptcy-related topics that have appeared in The American Bankruptcy Law Journal, Pratt's Journal of Bankruptcy Law, Bankruptcy Law 360, Business Law Journal (Japan), and Financier Worldwide, and referenced in The Wall Street Journal (Deal Blog). She received a 2010 Burton Distinguished Writing Award in Law for an article she co-authored with Norman S. Rosenbaum and Jordan A. Wishnew and is a guest contributor to the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation.

Ms. Barrage was recently appointed co-chair of the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Legislative Committee (2011-2013).

While earning her law degree at the Georgetown University Law Center, Ms. Barrage was an editor of the Georgetown Immigration Law Journal, a member of the Barrister’s Council, and the recipient of the 1999 CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights.

Residential Capital, LLC
(Bankr. S.D.N.Y.) Counsel to Residential Capital, one of the largest residential real estate finance companies with assets and liabilities each in excess of $15 billion, whose business is comprised primarily of loan servicing and origination, and its subsidiary companies, in their pending chapter 11 cases. Residential Capital was the largest bankruptcy filing of 2012 and the case represents the first time ever that a mortgage servicer was able to successfully continue servicing and originating mortgages in bankruptcy and be sold as a going concern.
Astellas Pharma Inc.
Represented Astellas Pharma in a collaboration and development agreement with Mitokyne, a new company focused on developing therapeutics for mitochondrial disease.
In re Eastman Kodak Company, et al.
Represented numerous intellectual property licensees, licensors, and infringement defendants in the Kodak bankruptcy case, where we fought to preserve and protect our clients’ intellectual property rights and lead an ad hoc group of similar parties. Also represented the runner-up bidder for the patent portfolio sold by Kodak in its chapter 11 case.
AmericanWest Bancorporation
(Bankr. E.D. Wash) Representation of debtor bank holding company AmericanWest Bancorporation in its Chapter 11 case. This case represents the first use of a bankruptcy sale process designed to save an undercapitalized bank from liquidation by the FDIC. This transaction was recognized as “Transaction of the Year – Mid-Size Company” at the 2011 TMA Awards. 
In re Ambac Financial Group, Inc.
(Bankr. S.D.N.Y.) Representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors of Ambac Financial Group, Inc. in its $1.69 billion Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Polaroid, Inc.
(Bankr. D. Minn.) Representation of Nikon Corporation as creditor in Polaroid's Chapter 11 bankruptcy.
Luna Innovations, Inc.
(Bankr. W.D. Va.) Representation of Hansen Medical as creditor in Luna Innovations’ Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Hansen was the largest creditor in the case after winning a $36.3 million verdict against Luna in a trade secrets trial.
Dunmore Homes, Inc.
(E.D. Cal.) Representation of the official committee of unsecured creditors and later the Liquidating Trust in leading California homebuilder Dunmore Homes Chapter 11 case, which included joining in a successful motion to transfer venue from the Southern District of New York to the Eastern District of California.
Tricom S.A.
(Bankr. S.D.N.Y.) Representation of Tricom, S.A. and its affiliates in their Chapter 11 proceedings, which involved the restructuring of more than $700 million. The case represented the first effort to reorganize a public Dominican Republic corporation under Chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
