Speaking Engagement
Kenneth Kuwayti is speaking at the Berkeley Center for Law & Technology roundtable on October 25, 2013. The state of Software Copyright & Beyond Computer Associates v Altai has become the most influential decision applying copyright to computer programs. In the years before this decision, there was considerable controversy and uncertainty about the scope of copyright for software, as well as a flurry of commentary about this topic. Since the 1992 Altai decision, controversies about software copyrights have largely calmed down, although the Oracle v Google case now pending before the Federal Circuit has revived at least some of this debate. Both because of the Oracle appeal and because Altai is now come of age at 21, this roundtable event will explore implications of this decision and attempt to predict its future.
