Ana-Maria Ignat is a litigation associate in Morrison & Foester’s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice includes state and federal financial services investigations, and other regulatory and traditional litigation. She handles all types of litigation, including class actions, regulatory enforcement actions, multi-district proceedings, and individual private actions. Her clients have included public companies, banks, mutual funds, and other financial institutions and private companies.
Some of Ms. Ignat’s representative matters include: representation of a major financial services institution in credit card disclosure investigations initiated by the Office of the New York State Attorney General and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation, successful dismissal of the financing arm of a major automotive manufacturer in a consumer class action alleging illegal repossession charges, and successful summary judgment for a major telecommunications company in a lawsuit involving the interpretation of a requirements contract.
Ms. Ignat is an editor of the firm’s Financial Services Newsletter, and is actively involved in the firm’s pro bono program.
While at George Mason University, Ms. Ignat assisted with the creation of a database of anti-bribery legislation in 40 countries for a major anti-bribery compliance association, and drafted successful Fourth Circuit appeals in two asylum/deportation cases.
