Mr. Morrison is a partner in the firm's Real Estate Group. Mr. Morrison's practice focuses on the representation of funds, banks, REITs and other institutional clients in all major aspects of real estate-related transactions, including: financings; acquisitions and dispositions; development projects; fund formation; joint venture arrangements; restructurings and workouts; and distressed loan portfolio acquisitions. Mr. Morrison also represents lenders and sponsors in project finance transactions.

Mr. Morrison's projects include:

  • Representing Global Logistic Properties Limited, in its $1.6 billion joint venture with China Investment Corporation for the acquisition of 15 logistics properties in Japan from a fund managed by LaSalle Investment Management. Awarded Real Estate Deal of the Year by Asian Legal Business (ALB) Japan Law Awards 2012.
  • Representing global funds in connection with their acquisitions of performing, sub-performing and non-performing loan pools and bonds.

  • Representing institutional lenders in connection with working out their debt positions on real estate assets throughout Japan.
  • Representing a large financial institution in providing ¥125 billion in series of financings to a US opportunity fund to acquire a portfolio of hard assets and non-performing loans.
  • Representing publicly listed REITs in connection with purchasing nursing homes, industrial real estate assets, and land for development in Japan.
  • Representing a U.S. opportunity fund in the acquisition and financing of a portfolio of commercial and retail properties in Japan.
  • Representing a U.S. financial services corporation in connection with joint venture investments in retail and commercial properties in Japan.

Mr. Morrison earned his J.D. degree from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1998, where he was a Student Authorities Editor for the Vanderbilt Journal of Transnational Law, and received his B.B.A. degree from George Washington University in 1992.  Mr. Morrison also studied Japanese language at Nanzan University, in Nagoya, Japan.
