Dr. Ann Hsueh Yang is a Patent Agent in the Intellectual Property Practice Group in Morrison and Foerster's Palo Alto office. Her current practice area spans a diverse range of medical device technologies, including biomedical, mechanical, and electrical technologies. She has experience in the preparation and prosecution of patent applications, as well as diligence matters. At Morrison and Foerster, Dr. Yang has worked on various medical devices, from surgical devices and implants for cardiac repair to devices for spinal repair, including optical and electrical analyte detection systems. Her practice area also includes devices for the treatment of stroke and epilepsy, biomechanical devices, and medical imaging technologies.

Dr. Yang worked as a hardware engineer at an application-specific integrated circuit design firm in Silicon Valley prior to attending graduate school. During her graduate study in bioengineering, she built a prototype of an electrical impedance tomography device for monitoring the progress of tumor ablation. Later on, her research focused on the neurocircuitry of the retina, including work on a stimulation paradigm for electrode-based retinal prosthetic devices. Her dissertation research focused on the electrophysiology and pharmacology of retinal amacrine cells. Dr. Yang has authored and co-authored several papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented her work in retinal prosthetics and neurocircuitry at scientific conferences. Dr. Yang is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
