Anna Erickson White has twenty years of experience in complex civil litigation. She has represented public companies and their officers and directors in securities class actions, derivative suits, internal investigations, SEC investigations, and general commercial disputes. She has represented clients in a wide range of industries, including digital media, semiconductor, medical device, insurance, and financial services. Ms. White speaks to various organizations about securities and related issues, and has published articles on these topics. She also counsels companies and their boards on directors and officers liability insurance.

Ms. White served as a firmwide Managing Partner from August 2006 to March 2009. She is currently the Chair of the Business Review Committee.

Ms. White received her J.D., with distinction, from Stanford Law School in 1992. She received her B.A. from University of California, Berkeley in 1985.

Before attending law school, Ms. White was a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, Central Africa.

Representative Matters

Ms. White's representative matters include the following:

  • Yahoo! Inc. and its directors and/or officers in a federal securities class action, Brodsky v. Yahoo! Inc., et al., 630 F. Supp. 2d 1104 (N.D. Cal. 2009); a derivative action in the Delaware Court of Chancery, Jacobs v. Yang, No. 206-N, 2004 Del.Ch. LEXIS 117 (Del. Ch. Aug. 2, 2004); and a derivative action in the Northern District of California. All three actions were dismissed with prejudice.
  • Yahoo! Inc. and its directors and/or offices in ongoing federal securities class action and derivative actions. A motion to dismiss has been filed in the class action.
  • Yahoo! Inc. and its directors in a consolidated class action resulting from its merger with Interclick, Inc. in 2011.
  • Former directors and officers of UCBH Holding, Inc. in a securities class action, a shareholder derivative action, FDIC claims, a bankruptcy action, and related investigations and proceedings. The FDIC claims and bankruptcy action have been settled in principle. A motion to dismiss has been filed in the class action.
  • Novellus Systems, Inc. and its directors in an on-going consolidated class action arising out its merger with Lam Research Corporation.
  • Former outside directors of Countrywide Financial Corp. in various securities class actions and shareholder derivative actions. The class action settled in 2011. The shareholder derivative actions were dismissed in 2010.
  • Altera Corporation and current and former officers and directors in derivative suits concerning stock option practices. The action was dismissed with prejudice in 2011.
  • Wonder Auto Technology, Inc. in a federal securities class action and derivative actions. These matters are on-going.
  • Former officers of Wachovia and Wells Fargo in an on-going derivative action.
  • Special Litigation Committee of Board of Cisco Systems, Inc. in investigating derivative shareholder claims against directors and officers and related derivative litigation. 
  • Oracle Corporation in related derivative actions. Summary judgment was granted for defendants in the Delaware action and the California action was settled.
  • JDSU and former officers in a securities class action and related derivative suits. Defendants received a jury verdict in their favor in a case seeking $20 billion for alleged securities violations and insider trading.
  • CIENA Corp. / ONI Systems, Inc. and its officers and directors in a consolidated class action arising out of a merger. The case was dismissed with prejudice.
