NEW YORK (September 10, 2013) – Morrison & Foerster today announced that it achieved strong results in the recently released 2014 BTI Litigation Outlook: Changes, Trends and Opportunities for Law Firms survey, BTI Consulting Group’s annual study of the leading law firms in the litigation market. The firm is one of only three U.S. firms ranked by general counsel and in-house litigation counsel as a “Powerhouse” in IP litigation, the highest honor in the field.
BTI also ranked Morrison & Foerster as a “Standout” law firm in securities and finance litigation and placed the firm on the “Honor Roll” for complex commercial litigation and complex employment litigation. The survey also named Morrison & Foerster one of the “Most Feared Litigation Law Firms,” a firm that in-house counsel would see as mounting a significant challenge as lead opposing counsel in a litigation case.
“MoFo’s strong performance reflects our ability to win trials in significant commercial and IP disputes,” said Arturo González, co-chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Litigation Department. “In the past 12 months alone, we have handled IP work for some of the biggest names in the technology market, steered the litigation work in some of the largest post-financial crisis bankruptcies and won yet another Supreme Court case – our third in the past two years. We are honored to have those successes recognized by BTI.”
“We are delighted that in-house counsel recognize our firm as an IP Litigation ‘Powerhouse,’” said Rachel Krevans, chair of Morrison & Foerster’s Intellectual Property Litigation Group and co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. “Clients turn to us for our trial skills and for the depth of technical knowledge our team brings to the table. It was a historic year for us, and we look forward to our continuing role in the IP battles that are often at the heart of global competition.”
BTI is a top provider of market research for professional service firms. The 2014 BTI Litigation Outlook results were based on individual interviews with 300 general counsel and in-house litigation counsel at some of the world’s largest organizations. The one-on-one interviews were conducted by BTI’s team of interviewers between March 11, 2013 and June 28, 2013.
