Earlier this month, jurors issued a ruling clearing money market fund inventor Bruce Bent and his son of fraud. While the ruling also found their company liable for fraud, the overall decision is considered a victory for the Bents and a setback for the Securities and Exchange Commission. The SEC had hoped to prove the Bents lied to independent directors, investors and rating agencies shortly before their fund, the Reserve Primary Fund, broke the buck.
