Charles Chau's practice focuses on mergers and acquisitions, listings and public offerings, capital markets transactions, securities regulatory compliance, joint ventures, and other commercial transactions across Hong Kong, mainland China, and the Asian region. Mr. Chau has extensive experience across a wide variety of industry sectors including banking and financial services, health care, retail, real estate and manufacturing. He regularly publishes articles on company and securities laws on international and local journals. He speaks fluent English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.
Mr. Chau is a qualified solicitor in Hong Kong. He holds bachelor of laws degree from the University of Hong Kong and master of laws degree from the University of Cambridge. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Chau worked for two leading international law firms.
Mr. Chau holds offices in various public bodies, including as an Adjudicator of the Registration of Persons Tribunal, a Member of the Appeal (Housing) of the HKSAR, an Adjudicator of the Obscene Articles Tribunal of the HKSAR, as a member of the Advisory Group on Directors and Officers Related Provisions in Connection with the Rewrite of the Companies Ordinance of the HKSAR Government, as chairman of the Young Solicitors’ Group of the Law Society of Hong Kong, a member of the Constitutional Affairs Committee of the Law Society of Hong Kong and as a member of the Standing Committee on External Affairs of the Law Society of Hong Kong.
