Thurston is regarded as one of the top life sciences transactional attorneys in the UK and has more than 30 years of experience advising biotech companies on licensing, strategic partnering and other collaboration matters. Xiao has significant experience advising clients on IP management and strategic portfolio planning, patent prosecution and counseling, especially in the areas of biotechnology and pharmaceuticals.

This two-part session will first discuss some key drivers in successful life science deals in China, from "The Good" (things you need to take), to "The Bad" (things that hinder a deal), to "The Ugly" (things you need to leave at home). The second part of the session will take a closer look at assessing and valuing IP. The presentation will cover Western IP in China and how it is valued, to assessing the IP of a Chinese partner, what you are likely to see and what you should be looking for in your deal.
