Connie Tong is a patent agent in Morrison and Foerster’s Palo Alto office. Her practice focuses on patent drafting and prosecution involving both domestic and foreign patent applications. Her practice covers pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and biotechnology.

Dr. Tong received her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of California, Irvine, where her doctoral research concentrated on site-directed mutagenesis with non-natural amino acids and de novo drug design and synthesis of ligands that bind to glutamate receptors. She received a B.S. degree in chemistry from the University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Tong is a member of the American Chemical Society, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and Iota Sigma Pi (national honor society for women in chemistry).

Prior to joining the firm, Dr. Tong was a patent agent with other law firms. She has also been an in-house patent agent at a biopharmaceutical company in South San Francisco. Dr. Tong was an adjunct faculty member at Concordia University in Irvine and taught introductory organic chemistry while concurrently working as a patent agent.

Dr. Tong is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
