Morrison & Foerster will host AGRION’s “EcoDistricts: Constraints, Investments & Rewards” event. The EcoDistricts event will discuss the future of city planning and development, production and consumption, and energy distribution in cities and regions around the world, with a particular focus on local projects.
Similar to Transit Oriented Development projects or mixed use infill projects, an EcoDistrict is a neighborhood or district with a commitment to accelerate sustainability performance goals and guide district investments and community involvement over time. Although creating a Smart City may take a generation and partnerships from multiple state and federal agencies, an EcoDistrict can be built in a matter of years with local strategic partnerships between corporations and local governments.
This event will bring together various stakeholders from multiple disciplines to meet, debate, and network to begin essential conversations addressing the barriers and solutions involved in developing an EcoDistrict. The panel topics will address issues related to legal considerations, financial barriers, private/public partnerships, and asking the right questions to form and succeed in EcoDistrict planning and creation. The goal of the event is to introduce stakeholders to potential collaborators and ultimately strengthen the larger network of professionals that are working to transition the world away from the carbon intensive economy in which we all live.
