Eugene Illovsky

Eugene Illovsky represents companies, firms, and individuals managing crises and interacting with government investigatory, enforcement, and prosecutorial authorities. He specializes in complex civil and criminal litigation, corporate internal investigations, and corporate counseling.

Mr. Illovsky has a wide range of experience in federal and state trial and appellate courts. He has had several jury and bench trials and has argued fourteen cases in the U. S. Court of Appeals. He has conducted dozens of corporate internal investigations in matters involving securities violations, accounting irregularities, including stock option backdating, intellectual property theft, export controls, and antitrust issues.

Mr. Illovsky has represented major corporations in diverse industries, including semiconductor and chemical manufacturers, securities and mutual fund firms, software developers, energy producers, and telecommunications service providers. Mr. Illovsky’s experience also includes discreet white collar criminal representation for private and public companies as well as for their executives.

Mr. Illovsky serves on the Criminal Justice Act Appeals Panel for the Northern District of California and as Commissioner on the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) of the State Bar of California. Mr. Illovsky was recently appointed a member of the San Francisco Superior Court’s Mandatory Settlement Conference Panel. He is also a Master of the American Inns of Court and was a Visiting Lecturer at Boalt School of Law at UC Berkeley. Mr. Illovsky is a member of the American Bar Association.

Mr. Illovsky was an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of California (Sacramento) from 1992 to 1998 where he investigated and prosecuted a wide array of white-collar crimes, including investment frauds, money laundering, political corruption, intellectual property crimes, and tax evasion. He received the Director’s Award from Attorney General Janet Reno for his work on a series of complex insurance fraud prosecutions, and he served on the DOJ’s Campaign Finance Task Force, which investigated election financing in the 1996 election cycle.

Mr. Illovsky graduated from Amherst College, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and from Yale Law School, where he was an Editor of the Yale Law Journal.
