Fahd H. Patel is an associate in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Patel practices patent litigation before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and in district courts. His litigation experience includes taking depositions, preparing expert witnesses for deposition and trial, drafting expert reports, and writing briefs. He has participated in the pre-trial, discovery, trial, and post-trial phases of litigation.
In addition to his litigation practice, Mr. Patel has worked on various aspects of patent prosecution, including preparing inter partes reexamination requests, analyzing patent portfolios, drafting patent applications, and responding to office actions. He has successfully conducted two oral arguments at the Patent Trial and Appeal Board at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Mr. Patel served as a patent examiner at the USPTO, where he examined applications in the areas of computer software, telecommunications, and business methods. He also has experience working as a systems engineer, designing and coordinating the installation of physical security systems at government and military installations. His technical background includes telecommunications systems, computer networking, databases, memory interfaces, computer architecture, operating systems, digital rights management, and business methods, among others.
Mr. Patel’s pro bono activities include assisting individuals from Ethiopia and Pakistan with their requests for asylum. He received his B.S. in computer engineering, with honor, from the Georgia Institute of Technology, and his J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center.
