Morrison & Foerster’s European finance practice is part of our global Financial Transactions Group and provides seamless English law and U.S. law advice in a European time zone to U.S., UK and other international clients. In recent years our London finance team has acted for leading banks and other institutional lenders, as well as other clients involved in financing and restructuring transactions, including borrowers and private equity funds, in a wide variety of English law and U.S. law financial transactions originating both in London and outside of the UK.
We advise across a wide range of industries, with a particular focus on technology, telecommunications and healthcare/life sciences – as one might expect from a U.S. firm with such an extensive California presence and with our deep experience and recognised expertise in these areas. Our in-depth knowledge of and familiarity with these sectors, along with our integrated U.S. and English law capabilities, sets us apart from other London finance practices and makes us a port of call for these specialised financings. In addition to these practice specialities we also have a growing oil and gas practice and are active in other diverse areas such as engineering and construction.
Our clients include leading banks, non-bank providers of funding, public and privately held companies, private equity sponsors and other funds, and mezzanine lenders. We act for our clients in a broad spectrum of financings, both syndicated and bilateral, under English law and U.S. law, including acquisition financings, working capital and revolving credit facilities, term facilities, asset-based lending facilities, letter of credit facilities, debt restructurings and project financings. In doing so, our European practice is able to leverage the scope and breadth of Morrison & Foerster’s London office as well as our offices located in other major financial centres throughout Asia, the U.S. and Europe, drawing upon the experience of our lawyers in related practice groups in London and throughout the firm.
We are an active member of the relevant trade associations for the banking and finance sector including the Loan Syndications and Trading Association, Loan Market Association and Asia Pacific Loan Market Association.
