Heather Haney is an associate in the Financial Transactions Practice Group in the firm’s San Francisco office. Ms. Haney focuses on the representation of financial institutions, other institutional lenders, and public and private borrowers in a broad range of secured and unsecured lending transactions. She also represents developers and other investors in early-stage power project development.
Ms. Haney served as the firm’s Clean Technology Program Manager (2011-2012), providing market analysis and strategic advice with respect to renewable energy, energy efficiency, smart grid, clean transportation, water, and energy storage. She set priorities and oversaw the execution of Morrison & Foerster's clean technology strategy and represented the clean technology program with external constituency groups, including NGO's, governmental agencies, and associations.
Ms. Haney earned her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 2011, with both a Cleantech Law Certificate and an Environmental Law Certificate. At Boalt, she served as an Executive Editor for the California Law Review and as the External Relations Editor for the Berkeley Technology Law Journal.
Prior to law school, Ms. Haney was an environmental consultant in San Diego, where she prepared technical documents in accordance with related federal and state environmental laws and regulations for both public and private entities. She holds an M.S., summa cum laude, in Environmental Studies and a B.A., magna cum laude, in Environmental Biology and Philosophy of Science from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
