As technology becomes increasingly important for businesses, it raises legal issues and challenges for employers that previously did not exist. Recruiters have to balance the wealth of information available to them with an applicant's right to privacy and possible discrimination claims during the recruitment process. Disgruntled or careless employees can reveal myriad trade secrets to the world at the push of a button, whilst a lost device may not only expose the organisation's sensitive information, but may also potentially breach confidentiality obligations that the business owes to third parties. The potential costs to an employer of failing to manage these and other related matters could cause significant damage to their business.
In this seminar we will a examine a number of pressing legal and practical issues in the workplace, looking at how to protect both organisations' and employees' rights in areas such as online recruitment and background checks, social media use and employee monitoring and the increasing popularity of BYOD.
We are delighted that Carlos García-Mauriño, Oracle's EMEA Senior Legal Director Data Privacy & Security, will join the panel to offer practical and commercial insights from his experiences at Oracle.
