Jack Londen is a trial lawyer with almost 30 years of experience in patent litigation and other areas of complex commercial litigation, including commercial arbitration matters arising from merger and acquisition transactions. 

Mr. Londen also has led significant cases involving public education, civil rights, and other public interest matters. He was a recipient of the 2005 California Lawyer Attorney of the Year Award for Civil Rights from California Lawyer Magazine.

Mr. Londen was listed in The National Law Journal's 2006 “Top 100 Most Influential Lawyers in America,” in The Best Lawyers in America (2006-2008); and he was named one of the “Ten Best Lawyers in the San Francisco Bay Area” by the San Francisco Chronicle in 2003.

Anvik Corporation v. Nikon Precision, Inc., et al.
(SDNY). Defending Nikon against patent infringement litigation involving cross-assertion of patents relating to claims regarding laser technology and microlithography machines used in fabrication of flat panel LCD displays. In September 2005, plaintiff Anvik Corporation filed suit against Nikon, asserting patent infringement against the importation into the United States of flat-panel displays made using Nikon's large-format lithography machines.
Sarei v. Rio Tinto
(USDC, Central District of California). Obtained the dismissal, on constitutional grounds, of mass tort claims against mining giant Rio Tinto Corporation. The claims, asserted under the Alien Tort Statute, are based on events on Bougainville Island, Papua New Guinea, where civil strife in 1989 closed the company's copper mining operations there and lasted until a U.N.-brokered peace in 1997. Matter is currently pending before the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
AMERCO Consolidated Derivative Litigation
(Supreme Court of Nevada). Representing AMERCO in derivative litigation at the trial court level and in the Supreme Court of Nevada, recently obtaining the dismissal of the consolidated cases.
Leica v. Nikon Corporation
(U.S. District Court, District of Delaware). Successfully defended Nikon Corporation in patent infringement case involving microscope design.
ITC Investigation of Altera
(International Trade Commission). Successfully defended of Altera Corporation in International Trade Commission investigation and hearing based on allegations of patent infringement involving programmable logic integrated circuits.
Action Technology v. Novell Inc.
(U.S. District Court, San Francisco). Obtained summary judgment for Novell Inc. in the U.S. District Court in San Francisco, and an affirmance in the Federal Circuit, on patent infringement allegations brought by the assignee of a patent related to groupware software.
Northern Telecom Ltd. v. Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. and Samsung Semiconductor, Inc.
(Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit). Won summary judgment of infringement on behalf of Northern Telecom Limited in a patent infringement action asserting claims of infringement of a fundamental patent on plasma etching technology in semiconductor fabrication. The ruling was affirmed by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
