Jenny Choi is an associate in the State and Local Tax Group in the Sacramento office. Her practice focuses on the resolution of state and local tax controversies at the audit, administrative and judicial levels and encompasses tax matters regarding income and franchise taxes, sales and use taxes, gross receipts taxes, and local taxes, with an emphasis on California Franchise Tax Board and California State Board of Equalization matters. She litigates and advises clients on issues involving apportionment, nexus, combination, intangible property, business tax exemptions, source of income, and residency. She also advises nonprofit organizations regarding various tax matters and assists new nonprofits with the incorporation and tax-exemption process.
Ms. Choi has written and spoken on various state and local tax issues. In addition, she is a co-editor of the firm’s newsletter State + Local Tax Insights.
Ms. Choi earned her J.D. degree from UCLA School of Law in 2008, with a specialization in business law. She received her B.A. degree from UCLA in 2004. Ms. Choi is admitted to practice in California and is a member of the Taxation Section of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of California, and the Sacramento County Bar Association.
