Joan Warrington's practice focuses primarily on retail financial services, with a special emphasis on privacy, data security, credit card, joint venture, and regulatory enforcement issues.
Ms. Warrington counsels a diverse range of clients, including banks, retailers, and insurance companies, on a wide variety of consumer laws, including the Truth in Lending Act, the Equal Credit Opportunity Act, the Fair Debt Collections Practices Act, the Federal Trade Commission Act, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act. She also negotiates a variety of joint venture, servicing, and portfolio purchase and sale transactions, and assists companies facing inquiries from bank regulators and state attorneys general.
Ms. Warrington also has worked on issues involving the EU Privacy Directive, meeting with Department of Commerce officials to discuss safe harbor proposals and participating in an ad hoc group working on a model contract approach to compliance.
