John Trocki is Of Counsel in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Mr. Trocki practices trial litigation in state and federal courts, as well as before administrative agencies, and before domestic and international arbitral tribunals. Mr. Trocki litigates and arbitrates cases across the country and globally in a variety of fields, including intellectual property, securities and financial services, telecommunications, general commercial, and bankruptcy. He has particular experience in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia (the “Rocket Docket”) and the International Trade Commission. He also has extensive international experience with cross-border licensing and insolvency issues, including Chapter 15 cases.

Mr. Trocki is the former President of the Northern Virginia Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, and served on the Board of Directors of that organization from 1998-2008.

Mr. Trocki holds a B.A. from the University of Chicago and a J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law. Mr. Trocki was a clerk to the Honorable T. Rawles Jones, Jr. for the Eastern District of Virginia.

(International Trade Commission, 337-TA-850). Representing Huawei in § 337 action involving camera technology and GUI and MMS functionality in smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices.
Tramontane IP, LLP v. Garmin Int’l Inc., et al.
(Eastern District of Virginia). Represented TomTom in patent infringement action involving navigational devices. Successfully resolved the matter for the client prior to the initiation of discovery.
Triangle Software LLC v. Garmin Int’l, Inc., et al.
(Eastern District of Virginia). Represented TomTom in patent infringement action involving navigational devices. Successfully resolved the matter for the client.
In re Qimonda AG (Chapter 15)
(Eastern District of Virginia). Represented Insolvency Administrator of Qimonda AG in dispute regarding validity of global license agreements involving semiconductor technology.
In re Qimonda Richmond, LLC, et al.
(District of Delaware). Represented Insolvency Administrator of Qimonda AG in dispute regarding ownership of patents with U.S.-based subsidiaries. Reached favorable resolution for client after international mediation.
In re Certain Liquid Crystal Display Modules
(International Trade Commission, 337-TA-631, 337-TA-634). Represented Sharp in § 337 actions relating to LCD panels and downstream products. Cases settled on favorable terms.
GIV, LLC v. IBM, et al.
(Eastern District of Virginia). Represented Kokoku Intech Co. Ltd., a Japanese co-defendant in a patent infringement case involving mouse tips used in IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad laptop computers. Settled on favorable terms.
