Kay Fitz-Patrick is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster's San Francisco office. Ms. Fitz-Patrick practices in the areas of financial services and securities litigation, and complex civil litigation. She has litigated cases involving the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act, and state unfair practices statutes, including California’s Consumer Legal Remedies Act and Unfair Competition Law. She has extensively briefed issues under the Federal Arbitration Act and the National Bank Act and its regulations.
The German Marshall Fund of the United States selected Ms. Fitz-Patrick as a 2012 Marshall Memorial Fellow. Active in the firm's pro bono efforts, Ms. Fitz-Patrick obtained parole for two lifer inmates. She was awarded the State Bar of California’s Wiley M. Manuel Award for Pro Bono Legal Services twice.
Ms. Fitz-Patrick received her J.D. degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law in 2007, where she received both the Witkin and CALI Awards for excellence in Community Property. While at Hastings, she was a recipient of the Percy E. Towne Scholarship and the Judge Robert H. Schnacke Scholarship. Ms. Fitz-Patrick also served as an extern for the Honorable William H. Alsup, U.S. District Court Judge for the Northern District of California. She received her B.A. in French, magna cum laude, from the University of Houston, Honors College in 2000. Ms. Fitz-Patrick also received her Certification in Business French from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Paris in 1999.
