Kazuyasu Yoneyama is Of Counsel to Ito & Mitomi. Mr.Yoneyama's principal areas of practice are antitrust and intellectual property matters.
Mr. Yoneyama represented a global technology company in a private monopolization complaint to the Japan Fair Trade Commission and in domestic civil antitrust litigation. In addition to handling antitrust matters in Japan, Mr. Yoneyama has a particular expertise representing Japanese companies in EU competition law proceedings, in which he works closely with the Firm's Brussels office. For example, he is currently defending a Japanese multinational in an international price fixing investigation brought by the European Commission.
Mr. Yoneyama also has a range of experience in intellectual property, product liability and other litigation matters. He brings to the IP practice his background as a physicist.
Mr. Yoneyama was involved in scientific research activities in elementary particle physics and field theory in Tokyo University and at the Graduate School of Science of Tokyo University until 1989. He then moved to Faculty of Law and received an LL.B. degree from Tokyo University in 1993.
He completed his studies at the Supreme Court Legal Training & Research Institute, and was admitted to practice law in Japan in 2003. He is a member of the Tokyo Bar Association.
He serves as a lector of competition law at Daito Bunka University Juris Doctor Program (Law School) in Japan since April 2009.
