Marshall P. Horowitz is Senior Of Counsel in Morrison & Foerster’s Singapore office. Mr. Horowitz joined Morrison & Foerster from the law firm of Snell & Wilmer, L.L.P., where he was a Partner in the Business & Finance Group. Mr. Horowitz’s practice focuses on advising both U.S. and international clients on a broad range of transactional matters. He has represented institutional and entrepreneurial buyers and sellers in negotiated purchases and sales of companies in numerous industries, has acted as outside general counsel for dozens of privately-held companies in all aspects of their operations, and has structured, negotiated and documented early-stage, venture capital and private equity financings, licensing transactions, and cross-border acquisitions. Mr. Horowitz has also represented international companies in establishing joint ventures in the People’s Republic of China and throughout Southeast Asia, and institutional clients in the formation of Asian-focused private equity funds, venture capital funds, and hedge funds. Mr. Horowitz has represented clients spanning many industries, including technology, entertainment and sports, medical device, real estate development, hospitality, consumer products and manufacturing.
He is a frequent speaker at conferences on investing in China and has extensive experience working with counsel ranging from the People's Republic of China to the Cayman Islands. He is fluent in Mandarin Chinese and French.
Mr. Horowitz received his J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School and his B.A. from Brown University. He conducted his graduate study in European history at Universite de Paris IV-Sorbonne. Mr. Horowitz also attended the People's University in Beijing for Chinese language and law courses and National Taiwan Normal University in Taipei for intensive Chinese language studies.
Mr. Horowitz served as a law clerk to the Honorable Jerry Edwin Smith of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He is a member of the state bars of California and New York.
