Melissa Beck is Of Counsel in the Capital Markets Group of the New York office of Morrison & Foerster. Ms. Beck has broad capital markets experience in the area of covered bonds, rights offerings, structured notes, pension funds, prime brokerage, and public offerings. Ms. Beck has worked with the bankruptcy and restructuring and financial services groups on various regulatory and restructuring issues, and has reviewed and analyzed servicing agreements, GSE guides, and securitization documents in connection with possible sales of mortgage loan portfolios.
Ms. Beck also has experience in insurance transactions. For the life settlement sector, she has advised clients on the establishment of proprietary programs, the drafting of transaction documents, the development of policies and procedures, and the oversight of ongoing operations, including state licensing filings, and has performed audits on third-party providers for clients. Ms. Beck has experience in catastrophe bonds, sidecars, and CDO and CLO transactions.
Ms. Beck was a member of the FrankNDodd team that provided content for the Dodd-Frank tracking website and has written extensively on topics such as covered bonds, securitization, rights offerings, prime brokerage, fair value accounting, and equity indexed annuities.
Ms. Beck received her J.D., magna cum laude, in 2003 from New York Law School, where she was a Notes and Comments Editor of the New York Law School Law Review. Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster, she was associated with two prominent international law firms.
