Michael Raines is an Associate in the Washington, D.C. office of Morrison & Foerster LLP and a member of the firm’s Financial Services group. His practice focuses on consumer financial services laws and regulations affecting mortgage lenders and servicers, consumer finance companies, and mortgage brokers. Mr. Raines is dedicated to helping his clients understand and integrate consumer financial protection laws and regulations into their operations, and preparing clients for federal and state audits and examinations. He is also experienced in defending and negotiating the resolution of state and federal regulatory enforcement matters.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster LLP, Mr. Raines was an associate in a national law firm's financial services regulatory group where he advised banks on various matters, including state foreclosure laws, debt collection practices and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act. In 2012 he was a recipient of U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois’ award for Excellence in Pro Bono Service. Mr. Raines speaks Spanish and Portuguese.
