On June 26, Los Angeles associate Tritia Murata and San Francisco associates Alfredo Silva and Stacey Sprenkel were among the 50 lawyers recognized for being included on The Recorder’s annual Lawyers on the Fast Track list. The honorees, who were selected based on their career achievements and leadership roles within their practice, organization and larger communities, received their awards at a reception and gala held at the Four Seasons in San Francisco.
Tritia was recognized for an unbroken string of victories preventing certification in wage-and-hour class actions, as well as the key role she played in several large employment cases. She drafted the briefs that helped secure an appellate win for Orange County sheriff’s deputies seeking to protect their pension benefits, and she successfully argued before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit—while on maternity leave—on behalf of a prisoner’s civil rights.
Alfredo was lauded as a luminary in both his corporate and pro bono practices. He advised the nonprofit Illuminate the Arts on matters to produce The Bay Lights, the light sculpture adorning the Bay Bridge for its 75th anniversary, and he also acted as counsel in the landmark SoftBank transaction—the biggest Asian acquisition ever to occur in the United States.
Stacey was honored as a successful securities litigator, as well as for her commitment to helping veterans. She went up against the U.S. Department of Defense and won class action certification that gave as many as 100,000 veterans the right to pursue claims resulting from exposure to harmful chemical and biological substances during secret human testing programs.
Approximately 200 nominations from across California were reviewed, and only lawyers who graduated from law school in 2003 or later were considered. Profiles of the winners ran in the June 24 special edition of The Recorder.
