MoFo formed the Women's Initiative Committee (WIC) in 2006 to focus on increasing the retention and promotion of women lawyers at the firm. As its first project, WIC created a clearer articulation of the firm's reduced-hours policy.
WIC now has three subcommittees, each with a different mandate:
- professional and business development
- recruiting and retention
- overseeing the firm's reduced-hours program
The success of our women's initiatives has been recognized within the legal profession: We were the first law firm ever to receive the prestigious Catalyst Award presented annually to corporations and professional firms that demonstrate a commitment to the leadership development of women employees.
In its 2013 survey of the top family-friendly firms, Yale Law Women commended the success of our reduced-hours programs and identified MoFo as one of four firms approaching gender equity in part-time staffing.
For three consecutive years, we have received gold standard certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum in recognition of the integration of women into our top leadership. One of our three firmwide managing partners is a woman. The vice chair of our Corporate and Finance Departments is a woman, and 11 other women hold senior leadership roles among our practice groups.
Above all else, we have created a work environment that allows our women lawyers to excel. MoFo's women are consistently singled out as practice leaders at the Chambers USA Women in Law Awards and Euromoney's Americas Women in Business Law Awards. And year after year, they rank among the
Daily Journal's top 100 women lawyers in California,
