The National Law Journal has named Washington, D.C.-based litigation partner Brian Matsui to its Minority 40 Under 40 list for 2011. Mr. Matsui made the list in recognition of the key role he plays in Morrison & Foerster's Appellate and Supreme Court practice, where he has been the voice behind briefs on dozens of successful cases.
Mr. Matsui's broad-based practice has seen him recently pen winning briefs on behalf of the Virginia Office for Protection and Advocacy, International Game Technology, and Novell Inc. In Graham v. State of Florida, meanwhile, Mr. Matsui and MoFo successfully persuaded the Court to reverse the lower court's decision to sentence a 17-year-old to life in prison without the possibility of parole for a non-homicide crime.
The National Law Journal's Minority 40 Under 40 feature honors minority lawyers "who have wielded national influence in their practice areas and beyond during the past five years," and who "have used the law to effect big change."
