The National Law Journal named Deanne E. Maynard, chair of Morrison & Foerster's Appellate and Supreme Court practice group, its Appellate Lawyer of the Week October 17. Ms. Maynard, a partner in the Washington, D.C., office, and a former Assistant to the Solicitor General at the United States Department of Justice, recently represented parties on the merits in Douglas v. California Pharmacists and CompuCredit Corp. v. Greenwood, two cases heard by the U.S. Supreme Court in October. She has also filed an amicus brief this term on behalf of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in Credit Suisse Securities v. Simmonds.
Ms. Maynard, who joined the firm in 2009, cited the firm's collaborative and client-focused culture as a key to her success. "One of the things I love about MoFo is that the ethics of the firm is to find the best person in the firm to do whatever the client needs," she told the National Law Journal. "There's a lot of sharing which is great both for those who work here as well as for our clients... I've been here a little over two years and worked with lawyers in every office, including Tokyo."
