Richard Call focuses on state and local tax litigation before administrative and judicial bodies, at all levels and in multiple states, with respect to income, franchise, gross receipts, and sales and use taxes. Mr. Call also advises clients on the state and local tax consequences of business restructurings, as well as the impact of new state legislation on current business operations.

Mr. Call is a frequent publisher on state and local tax topics. In addition to his numerous publications for Morrison & Foerster’s State and Local Tax Insights, Mr. Call has published articles for State Tax Notes, BNA Weekly State Tax Report, The Tax Executive, and the New York University Institute on State and Local Taxation. Mr. Call has spoken on state and local tax topics in multiple forums, including the Tax Executives Institute, Strafford webinars, and the Philadelphia Bar Institute.

Before joining Morrison & Foerster, Mr. Call was a state and local tax associate in the New York office of another law firm, where he was involved in state tax controversy, planning, and legislative work. In 2007, Mr. Call received his LL.M. in taxation from the New York University School of Law. While attending New York University, Mr. Call served as a law firm clerk focusing on state and local tax. Mr. Call earned his law degree from Brigham Young University in 2006. While at Brigham Young, Mr. Call served on the editorial staff of the BYU Law Review.
