Rosemary Tarlton is a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Group. Ms. Tarlton’s practice encompasses trademark and copyright counseling and litigation, including the selection and clearance of trademarks in the U.S. and overseas, the prosecution of trademark registrations before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and in foreign jurisdictions, the enforcement of trademark rights, trademark and copyright licensing, the handling of appeals and opposition and cancellation proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and federal and state court litigation. Her cases have addressed trademark infringement, copyright infringement, right of publicity violations, theft of trade secrets, patent infringement and domain name disputes.

Ms. Tarlton has advised a range of clients, including Internet businesses, software developers, pharmaceutical companies, toy manufacturers, media companies, clothing retailers, biotechnology companies, financial institutions, publishers and professional sports licensors.

Ms. Tarlton is recommended as a leading lawyer by Legal 500 US 2013 and listed in the World Trademark Review’s WTR1000 2011. In 2008, The Daily Journal named Ms. Tarlton one of the Top 10 Trademark Lawyers in California.

Ms. Tarlton received her B.A. with honors from Cornell University in 1982 and her M.A. in cultural anthropology from the University of Chicago in 1985. In 1991, she graduated from Stanford Law School and was elected to the Order of the Coif. Following law school, Ms. Tarlton clerked for Judge Robert F. Peckham in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
