Raj Chatterjee is a trial lawyer with expertise in business litigation, criminal defense, and arbitration. He has represented clients in state and federal courts around the U.S. and in a variety of arbitral forums.

His cases have involved a wide spectrum of matters, including complex contractual issues, energy and natural resources issues, including air pollution, energy, and water litigation, unfair competition, securities laws, fraud, trade secrets, fiduciary obligations, defamation, and myriad state and federal criminal laws. He also has extensive experience representing healthcare entities in contractual disputes and has advised clients with internal criminal investigations.

Mr. Chatterjee has held leadership roles in several bar associations and non-profit organizations. He is currently a member of the Board of Directors for the Asian Law Caucus and a member of the Board of Directors for the California Bar Foundation. He is also a member of the San Francisco Bar Association, American Bar Association, South Asian Bar Association of Northern California, and Asian American Bar Association of the Greater Bay Area.

From 2005-2007, Mr. Chatterjee served as a commissioner on the State Bar of California Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation. He is a former president of the South Asian Bar Association of Northern California and previously served on the Executive Committee of the California State Bar’s Litigation Section.

In January 2007, Mr. Chatterjee was selected by the Daily Journal as one of the “20 Lawyers to Watch Under 40” in California. He has been repeatedly recognized by California SuperLawyers for his expertise in business litigation (2010-2013).

From 1999-2000, Mr. Chatterjee worked as a public defender in Northern California.

During law school at the University of California, Hastings, Mr. Chatterjee was elected to the Order of the Coif and the Thurston Society and was an executive articles editor for the Hastings International and Comparative Law Review.
