Steven Wheeler is an Of Counsel in the firm’s Real Estate Group. Mr. Wheeler’s practice focuses on the areas of commercial real estate, corporate finance, capital markets, mergers and acquisitions with primary focus on real estate finance and real estate investment funds. Mr. Wheeler’s experience includes advising commercial banks and quasi-governmental agencies on the lender side and many high-profile and active borrowers investing into Japan in a variety of asset and structured finance transactions, especially in the area of real estate. He advised Shinsei Bank in the largest financial restructuring in Japan, and routinely provided counsel to Secured Capital Japan and its real estate investment funds on their transactions in Japan. Prior to joining the Firm, Mr. Wheeler worked in the Tokyo office of White & Case LLP. Mr. Wheeler has also worked for leading law firms in Connecticut and Florida in the United States and in Japan practicing in a wide variety of legal areas, including project finance, general corporate law and mergers and acquisitions.
Mr. Wheeler received his JD from the University of Connecticut School of Law in 1998. In addition to his admissions to the Connecticut and Florida bars, Mr. Wheeler is registered as a Gaikokuho Jimu Bengoshi.
