Tiffany Cheung’s practice includes federal, state, and multidistrict complex litigation, with a focus on consumer class actions.  She has successfully defended clients in disputes involving the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA) and various unfair competition, consumer fraud, and antitrust laws in federal and state courts throughout the United States.  In addition, she has represented clients in investigations and actions brought by government officials, including the Federal Communications Commission and various state attorneys general.  Her clients span a wide range of industries, including the pharmaceutical, retail, and insurance industries, with an emphasis on telecommunications companies.  She has also handled a variety of pro bono matters for indigent clients.

Ms. Cheung is a member of the firm’s Consumer Litigation and Class Actions practice group.  She has spoken on topics regarding jurisdiction and service of process issues, and has authored legal updates concerning consumer litigation.

Ms. Cheung earned her B.A. from the University of California, Berkeley, with high honors and was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  She received her J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 2000, where she was editor-in-chief of the Asian Law Journal.  From 2000 to 2001, she was a judicial clerk for the Honorable Marian Blank Horn of the United States Court of Federal Claims.  She was also a judicial clerk for the Honorable Susan R. Bolton of the United States District Court for the District of Arizona from 2001 to 2002.

In re Pharmaceutical Industry Average Wholesale Price Litigation.
Representing a pharmaceutical manufacturer in multi-district federal and state court litigation brought by states and counties against dozens of pharmaceutical companies involving the alleged overpayment by the Medicaid program for prescription drugs. (D. Mass. and state courts in Alabama, Kansas, Louisiana, New York, and Utah Ongoing)
In re Verizon Wireless Data Charges Litigation.
Represented a wireless carrier in coordinated multi-district litigation of more than 30 putative class actions that challenges charges for data usage by the wireless carrier. Settled favorably in the early stages of the case. (D.N.J.)
Premium Text Message Class Action Litigation.
Represented wireless carrier in several putative class actions around the country challenging charges to consumers for premium text messages that were allegedly unauthorized. Obtained voluntary dismissals of all actions. (Various state and federal courts 2009-2010)
Construction Contract Litigation.
Represented marketing and event production company in a breach of contract dispute. Negotiated favorable settlement during an early mediation. (JAMS 2010)
Intervention, Inc. v. GlaxoSmithKline.
Represented GlaxoSmithKline in a class action alleging false advertising regarding an over-the-counter cold sore product and in a successful appellate challenge to a class action settlement of the case. (Super. Ct. of Cal., Cnty. of San Francisco; Cal. Ct. of App. 2008)
Mobile Communications Antitrust Litigation.
Represented mobile telephone manufacturer in case alleged antitrust violations against several defendants. Negotiated voluntary dismissal in the early stages of litigation. (E.D. Tex. 2006)
