Timothy G. Doyle is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo Office whose practice includes patent litigation, client counseling, and trademark matters. He has worked with a variety of technologies in the wireless communications, semiconductor, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, electronic display, and dental products industries.
His litigation experience includes working closely with clients managing large-scale electronic and hardcopy document discovery collections and productions, taking depositions, collaborating with experts on complex expert reports, and drafting summary judgment briefs. His client counseling experience includes preparing opinions relating to patent validity and infringement.
Prior to becoming a lawyer, Dr. Doyle performed research in molecular biology and behavioral pharmacology, authoring articles published in peer-reviewed journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and Oncogene. Dr. Doyle received a B.S. with a dual concentration in Cellular and Molecular Biology and Psychology as a Natural Science from the University of Michigan in 1992, where his research on opiates earned him the distinction of High Honors. In 2000, he received a Ph.D. from Columbia University, after completing doctoral research that involved cloning a gene with a role in embryonic development.
After finishing a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of Tokyo, Dr. Doyle completed the Japanese Language Program at Keio University and worked as a translator. He is fluent in written and spoken Japanese.
