Tom McQuail, a partner in the firm’s Brussels office, is a member of the Global Antitrust Law Practice Group.  Mr. McQuail is an experienced merger control counselor, and has extensive experience advising on cartels, abuse-of-dominance claims, and distribution issues.  He also advises on antitrust damages claims in Europe.

Mr. McQuail’s experience covers a range of industries including chemicals, consumer electronics, consumer goods, energy, food and drink, forest products, insurance, oilfield services, packaging, pharmaceuticals, software, steel, technology, and telecommunications.  His list of clients over the years has included a wide range of mainly European, Japanese, and U.S.-based corporations and associations.

Mr. McQuail is a member of the ABA and IBA.  He is the EU rapporteur for the IBA Antitrust Committee newsletter, and has served on the IBA Competition Law International editorial board.  He has co-chaired a number of IBA Antitrust working groups on UK competition issues.  He is a regular speaker and author on EU and UK competition matters.

Mr. McQuail was named in The International Who’s Who of Competition Lawyers & Economists 2013 and The International Who’s Who of Business Lawyers 2013.

Successfully represented company on cartel investigation in the chemicals sector.
International film industry trade organization
Represented an international film industry trade association in its intervention in the Premier League/QC Leisure case in the English High Court.
SCA/Georgia-Pacific Europe
Represented SCA in obtaining clearance of its acquisition of Georgia-Pacific Europe under the EUMR in Phase I with commitments.
Toshiba/Landis & Gyr
Represented Toshiba in its US$2.3 billion acquisition of Landis & Gyr.
