Transition Management:
How to Avoid the “Ditch”

IAOP New York City Chapter Meeting
3/14/2012
Exchange Place
25 Broadway
3rd Floor
New York, NY 10004
Speaking Engagement

Transition can be defined as “the smooth transfer of services from a legacy organization to a vendor organization in accordance with contractual requirements.” An effective transition can unlock the value of an outsourcing engagement, thereby laying the groundwork for a relationship that can last for many years to come. However, Deloitte’s research has shown that approximately one-third of transitions fail in the first year and more than two-thirds of executives reported problems during a transition. Why are transitions so challenging?

Please join us at this timely event as we discuss and debate the importance of effective management during the transition phase of the outsourcing lifecycle and provide multiple perspectives on the best practices to ensure effective transition.

Topics on the agenda will include:

  • How prepared are the organizations for the realities of transitioning from in-house service delivery to new service provider driven operating model?
  • What are the most common pitfalls customers and vendors face when preparing for a transition?
  • How can transition be better prepared for in the contracting phase?
  • How to recover from “Ditch”?
  • Given the changes in technology, what will “transition” mean in the future?
