Trevor Hill is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster’s Tokyo office. His practice focuses on patent litigation as well as other intellectual property related litigation and counseling. Mr. Hill speaks, reads and writes fluent Japanese, and is conversant in Mandarin Chinese.
Mr. Hill received his J.D., cum laude, from George Mason University School of Law in 2006 and his B.S. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998. Prior to law school, Mr. Hill had extensive experience as a software engineer and architect in both applications and Web development at companies such as Quark, Inc., at Internet startups, and in independent consulting.
Following law school, Mr. Hill worked as an associate at a major patent law firm in Washington, D.C., where he obtained extensive experience in both patent prosecution and litigation in the areas of computer hardware and software; computer graphics and games; databases; digital electronics; digital imaging; networking; cellular and digital telecommunications; and business methods. Mr. Hill later focused on patent litigation, licensing, and counseling work at another major international law firm in Tokyo.
Mr. Hill has represented a variety of clients in patent litigation, both for and against major U.S. and Japanese corporations. He spent a substantial portion of his formative years in Japan and has been a full-time resident since 2010.
