Walter Wu is Of Counsel in the Medical Device and Venture Intellectual Property Groups of Morrison & Foerster's Palo Alto office. He specializes in patent prosecution and portfolio strategy for medical device companies and has worked with clients in the orthopedic, ophthalmic, cardiovascular, and ENT fields. He also has substantial expertise with clinical, marketing, and biostatistical issues relating to pharmaceutical patent litigation, including trial experience in Pfizer Inc. v. Ranbaxy Laboratories Ltd. involving Lipitor.
Dr. Wu received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine, where he was a UC Regents Scholar. During medical school, Dr. Wu completed policy fellowships at the National Governors' Association and the Food and Drug Administration. Dr. Wu is a licensed physician and is board-certified in internal medicine. Before attending law school, Dr. Wu was a chief resident and a clinical instructor at the UCLA School of Medicine. He received his law degree from the Corporate Law Program at the UCLA School of Law.
Prior to joining Morrison & Foerster LLP, Dr. Wu worked as an associate at Knobbe, Martens, Olson & Bear LLP in Irvine, CA. Dr. Wu is admitted to practice in California and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
