Scott Moore is a litigation associate resident in Morrison & Foerster's Los Angeles office. Mr. Moore is licensed to practice in California federal and state courts, and is also registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Moore has represented both plaintiffs and defendants in all phases of litigation, from pre-filing investigation and the commencement of litigation, through discovery, motion practice, trial and appeal. Although Mr. Moore has experience with many types of litigation, including environmental, entertainment, employment and aviation-related disputes, his current practice focuses on intellectual property with a particular emphasis on high-technology patent litigation.

Mr. Moore has experience in litigation involving a wide range of products and technologies, such as network management software, spreadsheet-database integration software, voicemail systems, transdermal drug delivery systems, electronic program guides, laser printers, dual-lumen catheters, semiconductor fabrication machinery and genetic sequencing technology.

For example, Mr. Moore recently represented the plaintiff in patent infringement litigation against Microsoft involving spreadsheet-database integration software. As the senior associate on that case, Mr. Moore was essential in obtaining a jury infringement verdict against Microsoft and a substantial award of damages for his client. In another case, Mr. Moore helped defend EchoStar against allegations that it infringed two Gemstar patents related to electronic program guides. The court subsequently granted summary judgment that Gemstar had no standing to assert one of the patents, and Gemstar voluntarily dismissed its claims as to the other patent based on that summary judgment decision. Mr. Moore has also represented other cutting-edge companies such as Hewlett-Packard, C.R. Bard, Qwest, Elan Pharmaceuticals, Affymetrix and Novellus Systems.

Mr. Moore earned a B.S. degree in Aerospace Engineering from North Carolina State University in 1996. He earned his J.D. in 1999 from the University of Chicago Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of The University of Chicago Legal Forum. Mr. Moore is a licensed commercial pilot and enjoys flying gliders during his spare time.
