F. Daniel Leventhal is currently based in the London and San Francisco offices and is a member of the firm’s Financial Transactions Practice Group. With a principal focus on banking and finance transactions, he has extensive experience in syndicated lending, asset-based lending and cross-border transactions. His practice includes a broad range of secured and unsecured lending transactions, debt restructurings, subordinated debt transactions, project finance, mergers and acquisitions transactions, international financing matters, vendor finance and other corporate finance. Mr. Leventhal acts for banks and other institutional lenders as well as other clients involved in financing transactions, including borrowers and private equity funds. He works with a wide variety of industries, and his experience includes such diverse areas as agriculture and food processing, engineering and construction, forest products, healthcare, and telecommunications and other technology.
Mr. Leventhal joined Morrison & Foerster in 2003. From 1989 to 2003 Mr. Leventhal was a partner at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in San Francisco.
Mr. Leventhal received his J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, School of Law (Boalt Hall) in 1981, where he was awarded the Order of the Coif, and was a member of Ecology Law Quarterly. He received his A.B. in Political Science (summa cum laude) at the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976 and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Mr. Leventhal also attended Georg-August-Universität, Göttingen, Germany, 1974-1975.
Mr. Leventhal was recommended in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Lawyers for Business, 2008 (in Banking & Finance) and also in the 2006, 2007, and 2008 PLC Which Lawyer? Yearbook for Finance Law and the 2007/2008 PLC Cross-Border Finance Handbook. Additionally, he has been included in the 2007 and 2008 editions of The Best Lawyers of America in the specialty of Banking Law and identified as a “Super Lawyer” in Banking by Northern California Super Lawyers in 2007 and 2008.
