Key Shin is Of Counsel in the San Francisco office of Morrison & Foerster LLP where he is a member of the Business Department’s Technology Transactions Group. Mr. Shin represents start-ups as well as more established clients in the life sciences and high tech sectors. He advises biotech and pharmaceutical drug development companies as well as medical device and diagnostic companies in planning, negotiating, and executing transactions that advance the development and commercialization of novel technologies and associated intellectual property (IP) assets. Types of transactions on which Mr. Shin provides counsel include:

  • license, co-development and marketing agreements
  • collaborations and alliances for development and commercialization
  • clinical trial agreements and associated documentation
  • university sponsored research agreements and technology licenses
  • asset purchase agreements
  • venture financings and mergers and acquisitions

Mr. Shin has been with Morrison & Foerster since 2003. Previously, Mr. Shin served as the Associate General Counsel for Nuvelo, Inc., and practiced technology transactions and corporate commercial law with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, LLP, and Borden Ladner Gervais LLP. Mr. Shin received his law degree from the University of Victoria and his B.Sc. in biology from Queen’s University. Mr. Shin is a member of the California State Bar.
