Mr. Boswell is a partner in the firm’s Real Estate Group, resident in the San Francisco office. He was born in Marin County, California, in 1968. He received his B.S. in Financial Management from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo in 1992 and his J.D. from the University of California, Davis, King Hall in 1997. After practicing real estate law for several years with another major Bay Area firm, he joined Morrison & Foerster as an associate in 2003.

Mr. Boswell’s real estate practice includes all aspects of transactional real estate, including acquisitions, sales, financing and leasing of office, retail and industrial properties. Mr. Boswell came to Morrison & Foerster with an extensive leasing background and has substantial experience in all aspects of commercial leasing including office, research and development, retail, and biotechnology leases, and lease workouts. He has also represented owners in connection with the negotiation of construction and architectural service contracts.

Mr. Boswell’s clients include a variety of domestic and foreign institutional investors, real estate developers, and large corporate users of real estate. Recent representative engagements include:

  • Representation of UBS Realty Investors LLC in connection with the acquisition of a 600,000 square foot multi-building, Class A office complex in Pleasanton, California, primarily leased to Charles Schwab & Co., the acquisition of a 332 unit multifamily property in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and the drafting and negotiation of numerous office and R&D leasing transactions for projects located throughout California.
  • Representation of Pritzker Realty Group in connection with the disposition of various real estate assets throughout California, including a 341,000 square foot retail shopping center located in San Jose.
  • Representation of a borrower in connection with a $200,000,000 construction loan facility for the development of a continuing care facility located in Scottsdale, Arizona.
  • Representation of Starwood Asset Management in connection with its ownership of Pacific Shores Center (a 106 acre waterfront campus containing approximately 1.7 million square feet of Class A office space located in Redwood City, California), including a recent 100,000 square foot, 10 year, Class A office lease to a large law firm tenant.
  • Representation of Takenaka Corporation in connection with its ownership of various California assets, including the Hotel Nikko in San Francisco and Oyster Point Marina Plaza (a 450,000 square foot, Class A office project located in South San Francisco).
  • Representation of Lucas Films in connection with its ownership of The Letterman Digital Arts Center (an 800,000 square foot Class A office project located in the Presidio of California), including a recent 160,000 square foot, 12 year, Class A office lease to a large investment bank tenant.
  • Representation of William Morris Agency in connection with a new build-to-suit worldwide headquarters lease for approximately 160,000 square feet located in downtown Beverly Hills, California.
