James Denaro is an associate in the Northern Virginia office of Morrison & Foerster LLP. His practice includes strategic client counseling, patent infringement and validity determinations, patent landscaping, and litigation in the electrical, computer, and software arts.
His counseling practice concentrates on analyzing legal issues relating to patent invalidity, infringement, and preparing opinions of counsel. Mr. Denaro has substantial experience in the analysis of market-leading patents covering technologies such as MPEG, WiMAX, and various networking protocols and devices. He also has performed due diligence analysis of significant patent portfolios.
His litigation experience includes developing offensive and defensive technical positions, drafting motions, and coordinating discovery.
Mr. Denaro received his J.D., with honors, from the Tulane University School of Law in 1998. He received a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, in 2002, from the Georgia Institute of Technology where he was a member of the Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi honor societies. He also received a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from Tufts University in 1994.
Mr. Denaro is admitted to practice law in Virginia and the District of Columbia, and is an inactive bar member in the states of Maryland and California. Mr. Denaro is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
