Ana-Maria Ignat is an associate in the Litigation Department of Morrison & Foerster LLP’s Washington, D.C. office. Her practice includes state and federal financial services investigations, and other regulatory and traditional litigation.
Ana-Maria Ignat received her J.D., cum laude, from the George Mason University School of Law in 2004. She received her B.A. degree in Political Science (cum laude) from the University of Bucharest, Romania in 1998, and her M.A. in International Relations and European Studies from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary in 1999.
Ms. Ignat is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia.
Some of Ms. Ignat’s representative matters include:
- Successful representation of the financing arm of a major automotive manufacturer in a purported consumer class action alleging illegal repossession charges;
- Representation of a major U.S. banking and financial services firm in connection with state and federal investigations into credit card practices;
- Representation of a software company in a trade secret lawsuit;
- Representation of a telecommunications company in a lawsuit involving the interpretation of a requirements contract; and
- Representation of a state entity in connection with proceedings before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
Ms. Ignat is the author of “California allows discovery to identify class representatives,” published in the May 2007 issue of the Consumer Financial Services Law Report.
