Greg Giammittorio is a co-chair of the firm’s Mergers & Acquisitions Group and Private Equity Buyout Group. He is also a partner in the Northern Virginia office of Morrison & Foerster. Mr. Giammittorio has over 18 years of experience representing private and publicly held companies in all stages of growth on a range of issues involving mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, venture capital, and public and private securities offerings. Mr. Giammittorio has built particular expertise in representing clients in the semiconductor, telecommunications, satellite, government contracting, software and information technology industries. In 2005, Mr. Giammittorio was named Washington’s Top Lawyer in Technology Transactions in the Washington Business Journal ’s Top Washington Lawyers issue.  

Mr. Giammittorio has recently worked on several mergers and acquisitions for semiconductor, software, information technology, medical device, media, bioinformatics, and government contracting companies. He has also worked on numerous acquisition programs for companies whose growth strategy involves a consistent mix of both organic growth and growth through acquisitions. He has served as lead outside counsel on over 100 M&A transactions in his career.

In addition, Mr. Giammittorio has worked on a variety of strategic commercial relationships involving matters such as satellite procurement agreements, launch services agreements, equipment development and acquisition agreements, joint ventures, teaming agreements, joint research and development agreements, licensing arrangements, and OEM, reseller, service provider and distribution agreements.

Mr. Giammittorio received his B.A. in 1984 from the University of Virginia and his J.D. in 1988 from the University of Virginia School of Law. He is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia. He is the immediate past Chairman of the Emerging Companies Subcommittee of the American Bar Association and the current Vice Chairman of the Small Business Committee of the American Bar Association. He is also an active member of its Committee on Negotiated Acquisitions. Mr. Giammittorio is a member of the board of directors and the general counsel of the International Association of Space Entrepreneurs.  In addition, he serves as a member of the board of directors and an officer of the Washington Space Business Roundtable.
