Thomas J. Knox is a partner at Morrison & Foerster LLP. He is Co-Chair of the firm's East Coast and Europe Corporate Practices.

Mr. Knox represents public and private companies on a wide variety of corporate, finance and technology matters. He provides corporate law, securities law and corporate governance advice to executives, boards of directors, investors and counsel, and he executes a wide range of transactions for his clients, including initial public offerings (IPOs) and other equity financings, private equity and venture capital investments, strategic investments, and merger and acquisition transactions. He recently advised Sourcefire, Inc. on its $100 Million initial public offering of stock, which was underwritten by Morgan Stanley, Lehman Brothers, UBS and Jefferies.

On technology matters, Mr. Knox structures and negotiates electronic commerce and e-business deals, IP licensing transactions, OEM, reseller and other distribution arrangements, technology and business process outsourcings, and acquisitions and dispositions of intellectual property assets, in both domestic and international markets.

Mr. Knox holds the AV (highest) Peer Review Rating from LexisNexis Martindale-Hubbell, is listed as a Leading Corporate Lawyer in the 2006-2008 editions of Chambers USA Guide to America’s Leading Business Lawyers, and was named by the Washington Business Journal as Washington’s Top Corporate Finance Lawyer in 2007. For the past two years, he has also been listed in Law & Politics Virginia Super Lawyers for Business/Corporate Law.

Mr. Knox has served as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center and is a frequent speaker and writer on corporate, finance and technology law issues.

He received his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and his bachelor’s degree from Middlebury College.
